Carson Wentz, the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, signed a contract extension on June 6, 2019. The deal was worth $128 million over four years, making Wentz one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.
Wentz had been drafted by the Eagles in 2016 and had quickly established himself as one of the league`s top quarterbacks. Despite suffering a season-ending injury in 2017, he returned in 2018 and led the Eagles to a playoff berth.
The contract extension was seen as a show of faith by the Eagles in their young quarterback. Wentz had shown tremendous promise in his first few years in the league, and the team was eager to lock him up long-term.
The extension came at a time when several other quarterbacks were also signing massive deals. Among them were Matt Ryan of the Atlanta Falcons and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, both of whom signed contracts worth over $100 million.
While Wentz`s contract extension was certainly a significant financial commitment by the Eagles, it was also a reflection of the team`s confidence in his abilities. With Wentz under contract for the foreseeable future, Philadelphia fans can look forward to seeing their quarterback continue to lead the team on the field.
